These
Tropical Flowers are a continuation of the Fall Leaves series
with the aim of creating a final image that pushes beyond
the boundaries of a straight photograph. For the Tropical
Flowers, Melissa blends painting with photography, using computer
controls to add texture, selective focus and a pattern to
the background. The foreground is "painted" using
the colors already on film. The resulting flower looks hyper-real,
as a stylized version of itself.
